Vakalapudi Beach Kakinada

Vakalapudi is a city in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The closest tourism destination to Vakalapudi is Kakinada. Other close by tourism destinations include Peddapuram Town, Yanam and Rajahmundry.

Vakalapudi Lighthouse is situated about 10 Km north east from Kakinada town. Kakinada(previously Cocanada) is an ancient port since the period of Kakatiyas. The British East India Company had established their agency here in the mid 19th century and introduced a regular Steamer service to ply between Rangoon and Machilipatnam touching important ports on the route including Kakinada.

In 1860 a masonry column was raised in the port area for placing an oil lamp. This beacon was painted white. The work for the lighthouse tower began in 1874 and competed in 1878.

The nearest major railway station to Vakalapudi is Kakinada Town (CCT) which is at a distance of 5.6 kilometres. The nearest airport is at Vishakapatnam which is at a distance of 127 kilometres.
