Affiliate marketing is a very large industry and has become a key source of online income for many thousands of professional bloggers. With more and more online businesses becoming involved in affiliate marketing, more opportunities have arisen for bloggers, like you and I, to make money with their blog. and to ultimately create passive income streams.

With a wide variety of businesses who work direct with affiliates, most affiliate marketers will use an affiliate marketing network to search for offers for their blogs.

Legend has it that Jeff Bezos (the CEO and founder of Amazon.com) was at a cocktail party, where a woman told him that she wanted to sell books through her Web site. 

She did not have the infrastructure to sell the books, but Jeff Bezos realized that she could send her targeted traffic to Amazon.com where users could buy books, and she could get paid for each successful referral. From this meeting, Jeff Bezos launched Amazon Associates, the Amazon.com affiliate marketing program. Referrers are rewarded for successful sales that occur as a result of their marketing efforts.

The growth experienced by Amazon.com as a result of its affiliate program is well documented and probably accounts for about 40 percent of its revenue.


What is Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing can be thought of as outsourced marketing, in which you’re hiring affiliates who are paid to bring you customers. This system of reward where compensation is based on referrals is called affiliate marketing. 


•    Affiliate marketing is also known as performance-based marketing.

•    Brands collaborate with various affiliates who then promote their products or services. When promotions by an affiliate lead to a sale, the brand pays them a commission.

•    This commission differs from brand to brand. You can either pay your affiliates for each sale, lead, or click.

•    It can be a very effective way to fuel your sales funnel with significant leads and conversions. However, using it to grow your brand takes time, effort, and well-thought affiliate marketing strategies to drive the best results.
